Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Hilarious and touching   August 12, 2008
This is the funniest of all the excellent Casson Family series. It made me laugh more than any book I have read for years. I kept getting to bits that I just had to read out to whoever was with me, only to find out that the next paragraph mounted to still greater heights of crazy brilliance. Check out the scene where Rose's friend Kiran is telling Rose all about weddings she has known ... The combination of warmth and sympathy with spot-on skewering of the pomposities and contradictions of contemporary life is what gives these books their edge over most 'older child and young adult' fiction. I want to see the movie.

5 out of 5 stars Cool Book   October 29, 2007
I think this book was fantastic and I would absolutely recommend it to all of my friends.

5 out of 5 stars Shame about the cover   June 16, 2007

What a pity the publisher has chosen these Chick Lit Lite covers for Hilary McKay's excellent books which are funny, well-observed and far beyond the average fare dealt out to teenage readers. I only started reading the Casson Family series after I met the author accidently and was intrigued to find out what sort of books she wrote, but as I am a boy, I have to read them secretly, and in plain covers.
