A must for any true golf fan August 28, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read this book in a day, finding myself practically unable to put it down. Golf fiction is not a common form of literature, but this book shows what can be achieved. The book follows a young law trainee as he unearths the story of a player that has until now been hidden due to circumstance. There are two levels on which to enjoy this novel. It is a clever and intriguing story, that through a fantastic patchwork pieces together an unknown man's life story, but it is also an interesting historical piece full of unusual tit bits about a golden age of golf, as well as many other thoughts on the game. The author's real skill, is in the believability of the story, and while it may not be for everyone, if like me you are a golfing fan and enjoy the odd crime mystery novel then I suggest you give it a read. It is the most enjoyable book I have read for sometime.
