Book Description This title will inspire, amuse and captivate the imagination of golfers everywhere. 'Britain's 100 Extraordinary Golf Holes is a collection of the most challenging, spectacular and unusual golf holes hidden amongst the country?s 4,000 courses. Complete with over 300 high quality photographs, every hole also comes with an outlined 'perfect trajectory', a commentary on each hole's remarkable attributes and other shots to enhance readers? perspective. The authors of this remarkable work have received submissions from both individuals and golf clubs, resulting in a 'shortlist' of 800 holes that have been put to an independent panel of golfers, to arrive at a ranking of the best 100. Each has then been meticulously photographed, often using the remarkable panoramic 'widelux' format to bring each hole vividly to life. Many holes were originally simply part of the lay of the land over which local enthusiasts would enjoy a round, evolving over the years to become recognizable golf courses. From the country's most dreaded bunker, at this year's British Open venue, Royal St. Georges, to the lesser known gems such as Eyemouth's scarcely believable 6th over the massive jagged rocks of a North Sea inlet, the book features examples of Britain's immaculate modern courses as well as those whose terrain possesses qualities that no current day designer would possibly consider incorporating into a new layout. The result is a delightful, amazing and often puzzling collection of rarities that could only come from courses on the British Isles. Incredible, extreme and challenging; this book brings Britain's 100 Extraordinary Golf Holes to life in a visual feast combined with succinct and amusing commentaries.
Synopsis The authors of this work have contacted over 800 clubs and many hundreds more golf professionals to discover the 100 most extraordinary golf holes in Britain. The result is a sometimes downright bizarre collection of rarities that could only come from courses on the British Isles.

A dream of a golf book November 1, 2003 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
Hundreds of amazing photos of the wildest and wackiest golf holes in Britain. A complete change from the usual staid writing on the sport. I thought I was reasonably well travelled, but I've only heard of about a third of these courses. The book has a very luxurious feel and is probably destined for cult status.
