2 out of 5 stars "Quick money" device   July 26, 2008

This books contains some useful insights.
Still, it is very clear that it is just meant to be a quick way of multiplying the sales channels of what the author has already said in other books; it comes so far as to partially consist of transcriptions of seminaries with much blabla and nothing that is not a repetition of what was already said.

Also not pleasing is the constant self advertising of the author and promotion of his other books, internet sites etc. A bit would still go if made with class and decency, but in my eyes this was not the case here.

All in all, I would not spend the money again for this book and do not consider it a good investment.

3 out of 5 stars useful to a degree   July 7, 2008

I liked aspects of this book but in the end I found its central message too ego-based. It's clear that many of us put limits on ourselves and that it can be beneficial for us to transcend those limits, but that needs to be balanced by an awareness of how desire is part of the problem, and how we can actually find contentment by stopping wanting things like success and wealth. Desire makes us unhappy because it makes us dissatisfied. So to some degree, we need to overcome desire. For a more edifying read, try Making Time by Steve Taylor Making Time: Why Time Seems to Pass at Different Speeds and How to Control It, which shows how you can control and expand time by filling your life with new experience and by living in the present.

1 out of 5 stars Complete waste of time   June 28, 2008

This is my second attempt at writing a comment. My first attempt must have been too extreme.

I didn't like this book at all. Why?

Because it gives you false hope. I'll explain: Yes I believe that everything in the Universe, including our thoughts, are connected. But the problem with books like The Key, The Secret, The Attraction Factor, are that you send out the wrong thoughts. The thoughts you are sending out to the Universe are 'I'm not satisfied with what I have. I want this, and I want that.' You are sending out thoughts of weakness. The thoughts you are sending are not your's but those of your ego. You are not empowering yourself with attaining your desires, you are living in hope that the Universe will provide them for you.

This is how the law of attraction really works: You focus your attention on what you have at this moment - now. True happiness comes from within. When you are truly happy without the need for attachments the things you want will become attracted to you.

This book will temporarily lift your spirits. If your attractions come to you, you will thank the book. If they don't you'll end up extremely disappointed.

4 out of 5 stars Encouraging and written in Joe's engaging style   May 31, 2008

This book from Joe Vitale follows on the coat-tails of the successful movie "The Secret". The core theme here is that people actually self-sabotage and run subconscious programmes that effectively negate all their best intentions. This particular topic is tackled here head on and contains a number of techniques for eliminating 'resistance'.

The strength of this book is that it is written in Joe's engaging style. He admits that he has faults and 'bad days', just like everyone else. It is also rather like a manual - so you can dip in and out if you prefer and all the sections are short and digestible.

Joe Vitale has a brilliant mind and it is worthwhile taking time out to read a book such as this.
