Perfect for travel, excellent sound quality September 6, 2008 I tried out docks @ 25 approx.....rubbish sound quality! This for it's size and value for money is excellent.50 from a hight st. retailer.
Background Noise August 25, 2008 I JUST took mine back to the retailer as well. The background interference was way to much for me too!! Loved the product, but couldn't live with the background interference. As soon as the music stops, there is this high pitch buzzing sound that irritated the crap out of me. Tried it all over the house, same problem and tried it at the store when I returned it, same problem. So we tried the demo one, and the same problem.
It sounds ok in the store as there is a lot of other noises, but put your ear to it and you'll hear it. It's a pitch that really travels in a quiet environment. It does look sleek and robust though, it was exactly what I was looking for, so it's a shame about the extra sound... If they can fix it, it would be an awesome product for a decent price.
Great Slimline speakers August 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These are great value speakers (but I bought them for 35 GBP). They are really lightweight and pack away easily, but the trim around the soft case frayed at the first use. They also look and sound great. They are no good for a party, but they are certainly loud enough to easily fill a decent sized hotel room /bedroom without distorting or sounding tinny. The remote works well, although the range beyond about 4 meters is iffy. I use these whilst traveling and have no complaints at all. Previously I had bought some ultra small speakers from Philips, but they were so quiet I couldn't use them, but these Gear4 speakers are in a different class.
Total rubbish July 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this to use in our small office but have had to return it. Out of the box the product felt cheap and light, it's a shame as the design is what made me buy the product; on closer inspection I would not have purchased.
The sound quality is appalling! When turned on at medium volume you can hear cracking and hissing in the background of your music, after reading the other reviews this problem appears to be the case with the product in general and not just an isolated problem with the speaker that I had.
I've had a set of Gear4 Speakers before and they too were not so good, I should have learnt my lesson. If I could have given the product 0 out of 5 I would of, what a waste of time.
  A curate's egg July 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The good part; It works well on batteries.
The bad: If the mains unit is switched on, with an Ipod Touch, the background noise makes the speakers impossible to enjoy.
The result makes the whole set up unsatisfactory, a second unit from Gear4 is just the same, so try before you buy!
